The Apollo from Pinedo (Valencia)
Tarima Apolo
In December 1963, under the waters of Pinedo beach, four divers discovered this bronze statue. The technical process to make the different body parts of the sculpture was the lost-wax technique, which were later welded.
The Apollo from Pinedo, of clear Hellenistic style, is an Imperial copy of Apollo Delphinios from the late second century B.C. The bent position of his left arm indicates that it rested on some object or instrument, probably a lyre or a harp, its most representative attribute.
