The trade boom. I-III centuries A.D.

During Imperial times, political stability at the Western Mediterranean favored the trade of wine, oil and salted fish. These products were transported in amphorae that were often marked with a stamp or incised stamp, either by the potter or by the product owner. Besides, products had sometimes painted signs referring to the amphorae content. To preserve the product, the interior was coated with fish resin and the amphorae sealed with a lid.
