Ancient Iron Age period (VII century B.C.). Cova del Cavall and El Puntalet (Lliria, Valencia).
Vitrina 73
Incineration burial urns found at two foothills near the Tossal de Sant Miquel (Liria, Valencia) are on display. They date back to the VII-VI centuries B.C. One of them is a Phoenician jar from the south of the Iberian Peninsula decorated with painted bands. Next to it, there is an imitation which was probably made at a regional sphere, in the east coast of the Iberian Peninsula.
Phoenician jars came to the Valencian area as containers of food products in the context of trade, but its functionality changed later, when they were used as part of burials and funerary urns.
